Our Story

I have always loved Christmas.

As a child, I was thrilled by the excitement of the season; Christmas carols, decorated homes, Christmas trees, Christmas specials on television, and of course Santa Claus and presents.

Later, I learned the religious significance of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, and what it meant for man.

As an adult I started playing Christmas Carols shortly after Halloween, and was the last one to put them away after Christmas. I was fascinated by the Christmas story, and tried to imagine the wonder and awe felt by the shepherds hearing about the birth of Jesus, choirs of heavenly angels, as told in so wonderfully in Luke.

After retirement, at the urging of my family, I fulfilled a dream and purchased an outfit. Having taken the first step of a dream, you worry about your ability to play the part and be believable.

My first experience involved simply walking through a Christmas tree farm in uniform. Seeing the wonder in the eyes of the children as the approached Santa with a combination of hesitation and awe, was all I needed to convince myself, that this was what I wanted to do.

Today, I am not sure who gets more joy out of a visit from Santa, the child or Santa himself.

It is a privilege being able to share in the Magic of Christmas for these young people.

I strive to keep the Christmas Spirit alive, and hope that we can live the principles of Christmas, love and kindness not only during the Christmas season, but all year long.
